The humpback is a baleen whale that can weigh up to 39 tons (35 tonnes), and range in lengths of 38 to 52 feet (I 1.5 to 16 M). 

They steer with large wing-like flippers that are one third their body length. Individual humpbacks are identified by their tail flukes. The black and white patterns are like finger prints, no two are alike. 

Ranging throughout the oceans of the world, they spend their summers feeding in northern latitudes and breed and calf in southern latitudes during the winter months.
